This year’s annual tailgate party has been rescheduled due to rain slated for Friday’s forecast. Right now we’re showing it’s going to rain from 6am until about 1pm, and then off and on for the rest of the day. It may or may not rain during the actual event, but the rain all day leading up to it is a problem for many reasons.
First, if it rains all day and we have an event where all attendees have to trudge through puddles and marshy fields, you’ll be soaked and muddy. I wouldn’t expect a big turnout for those conditions. Logistically though, we would not be able to host the event on the baseball field because people walking on the grass with standing water would ruin the field – and that would be costly. Any funds we would raise at the tailgate party would then have to go towards field restoration. We don’t want our fundraising efforts to zero themselves out. We talked about moving to the softball field, but that’s a smaller area and again, we’d end up having to pay for the field restoration. If the gymnasium wasn’t still under construction we could have moved it inside. But alas, that’s not possible and we have worked with the school and all parties to reschedule this event.
So we are not canceling! We’re rescheduling and will host the same great party at our third and last Trojan football home game of the year on October 5 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm.
We’ll see you on October 5 for an exciting, fun and successful fundraiser to benefit all of Highland High School’s athletic programs!
Thank you for your understanding on this and helping to coordinate a successful event!
